Join MSH at the 37th Annual Global Health Council Conference

MSH will be participating in the Global Health Council’s 37th Annual Conference: “Goals and Metrics,” being held in Washington, DC, from June 14-18, 2010. MSH is pleased to be a Silver Sponsor of the conference.

MSH staff—including representatives from projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Rwanda—will present on a wide array of health systems strengthening topics, including leadership and management, capacity-building, human resources for health, pharmaceutical management, family planning/reproductive health, and maternal, newborn, and child health.    

MSH will also be sponsoring two auxiliary events:

  • June 14, 2-4pm, Governors Room, Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, DC. This event is free and open to the public. “Can Country Ownership Work?  Field Perspectives on Health Systems Strengthening,” a panel discussion co-hosted by MSH and Oxfam on how “country ownership”—the management of donor funds by a national government—works in practice. The panel will feature first-hand perspectives from government and civil society health providers from Cambodia, Mozambique, and Nigeria.

  • June 15, 6:30-8:30pm, Congresssional Room: “Strengthening Health Systems: What Do We Know?,” MSH’s  President & CEO Dr. Jonathan Quick interviews Dr. Alex Larson, the Haitian Minister of Health and Afghan Ambassador Said Jawad .on the effectiveness of efforts to strengthen health systems. Wine and cheese will be served.
