Management Sciences for Health Welcomes Daniel H. Kress, PhD, as Vice President for Global Health Systems Innovation

Arlington, VA—Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a leading global health NGO, announced today the appointment of Daniel H. Kress, PhD, as Vice President for Global Health Systems Innovation, which is the team responsible for the organization’s global and strategic technical expertise.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dan to MSH and look forward to adding his distinguished leadership in health systems, his diverse implementer and foundation experience, and his data-driven approach to MSH’s work of improving the health of people in low- and middle-income countries. I’m confident that Dan will lead our world class team of technical experts to new heights in achieving our mission and shaping the direction of global health,” said Marian W. Wentworth, MSH’s President and CEO.

Dr. Kress, a health economist by background, joins MSH with three decades of experience in health systems, health reform, and evaluation. His experience includes working across more than 30 countries.

Most recently, Dr. Kress was the Senior Director of Global Health Financing and Systems at RTI International, where he helped strengthen and expand RTI’s technical expertise in global health financing and systems. Prior to that, Dr. Kress spent 13 years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he held many leadership roles, including as Deputy Director of Integrated Delivery, Chief Economist, and Deputy Director of Policy Analysis and Financing, and roles in global health vaccine delivery and health economics and financing. Prior to his tenure at the Gates Foundation, Dr. Kress held senior health economist roles with the World Bank, Abt Associates, and the Futures Group International (now Palladium).

Dr. Kress holds a PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in economics and French from the University of Montana, as well as a Certificat d’Etudes Approfondies from the Université d’Aix-Marseille III.
