Improving Maternal Health Measurement Capacity and Use

Project Overview

With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Improving Maternal Health Measurement (IMHM) project worked to advance maternal health measurement capacity through the development and validation of indicators to inform global standards and encourage their adoption through targeted engagement and support to countries.

MSH and the White Ribbon Alliance worked closely with the Women and Health Initiative (W&HI), local partners, and multilateral organizations, including WHO and the United Nations Population Fund, to organize multi-stakeholder dialogues on national maternal health in Côte d'Ivoire and Mexico. These dialogues sought to better understand countries’ specific needs and interests related to maternal health monitoring and discuss adoption and use of prioritized indicators to inform strategic decisions about maternal health investments and programs.

In partnership with national ministries of health, the project convened dialogues in Bangladesh, Côte d’Ivoire, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
