Cecilia Muiva joined MTaPS in July 2020 as the Technical Strategy Lead for the East Africa region covering Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique, and Tanzania. She supports the country project directors to achieve results through the use and scale-up of technical best practices and innovative technical solutions, building of technical capacity as needed, and cross-fertilization of technical approaches across the countries and regions. Muiva has previously worked with MSH in Kenya and recently as a consultant in various African countries and other organizations. She has over 15 years experience strengthening health systems in the public sector, focusing mainly on pharmaceutical systems, including implementing health product governance structures and information management systems. Muiva’s experience includes working with and supporting human and institutional capacity development in the Kenyan Ministry of Health and related stakeholders at the national and peripheral levels. She holds a master of business administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, a bachelor of pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nairobi, and a higher diploma in management of information systems from the Institute of Management of Information Systems (IMIS), UK.
