Latanya Mapp is the President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA), a global nonprofit at the forefront of philanthropic growth and innovation, with a mission to accelerate philanthropy in pursuit of a just world. RPA currently advises on and manages more than $500 million in annual giving by individuals, families, foundations, and corporations while also serving as a fiscal sponsor for more than 100 projects. Prior to joining RPA, Mapp was the President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, a foundation that funds bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.

Mapp served as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, with regional and country offices in Africa and Latin America. During her four-year tenure, Planned Parenthood Global quadrupled in size, becoming one of the most innovative and sustainable global health organizations in the field.

Prior to Planned Parenthood Global, Mapp worked with USAID for 10 years, including as Mission Director in Nigeria and Assistant Director in Mali. Her work at USAID also included DRC, Egypt, Iraq, and Asia and the Near East. Before working at USAID, she worked for 8 years as a human rights officer for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Lesotho, Ethiopia, Pakistan, and New York.

In 1995, Mapp served as a delegate to the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing and continues to fight for the human rights of women. An attorney by training, she began her career at the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund in Washington, DC. She has received many honors and awards, including two Esteemed Meritorious Honor Awards from the US government and the highest honor in civil service, the Superior Honor Award, from the US State Department. Mapp was one of 30 Foreign Service Officers honored with the Colin Powell Fellowship by then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Mapp currently serves on the Boards of Directors at Oxfam America, CHANGE, and Management Sciences for Health. She is an Adjunct Professor of Population and Family Health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Mapp is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and author of four UN human rights reports and manuals. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and Alum of ICAP. She is a member of the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations. She holds a bachelor of arts in government and politics, a master’s in public policy, and a JD from the University of Maryland.
