Youth-Adult Partnership on IPPF Member Association Boards

Youth-Adult Partnership on IPPF Member Association Boards

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) has a long history of providing essential sexual and reproductive health services to young people. As an organization dedicated to good governance, and recognizing the importance of young people as key stakeholders, IPPF mandates that its member associations’ governing bodies meet a quota for youth representation among their board membership. Although quotas ensure greater representation and diversity on governing bodies, they also increase the likelihood of multigenerational boards.

This technical highlight explores common challenges that multigenerational governing bodies can face, actions that organizations can take in response, and the USAID-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project’s approach in providing support to IPPF member associations.

The LMG Project also developed an in-depth guide, Forging Youth-Adult Partnership on the Board, in English and French for use by the IPPF Africa Region’s member associations.
