Alain Joyal currently serves at the project director for the Rwanda Health Systems Strengthening (RHSS) Project. Dr. Joyal has over 20 years of experience in managing and advising primary health care and reproductive health strengthening projects, programs, and organizations in developing countries. He has been active in development work in Africa, Central Asia, and the Indian Ocean region over the last three decades. Since joining MSH in 2003, he has led the successful implementation of capacity-building programs totaling over $200 million in 30 countries worldwide. He has successfully designed and led high performing projects and teams in complex settings (Afghanistan, Guinea, and Madagascar). Mr. Joyal has extensive experience leading diverse teams of international and national experts in various technical areas–guiding assistance packages development, implementation, and evaluation. A financial management specialist and professional accountant, he has been providing technical assistance to NGOs, GOs, and ministries in management systems upgrading, organizational development, and institutional strengthening since 1981.
