Arturo Silva
Technical Director and HIV Specialist

Dr. Arturo Silva is an international public health professional with 30 years of experience working as a physician and public health advisor. Dr. Silva has worked in more than 25 countries around the world, including Angola, where prior to MSH he spent four years with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNAIDS providing HIV and AIDS treatment and preventative support during the civil war. His experience also includes 20 years of working on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV and AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, health assessments, immunization, pediatrics, and social health mobilization in Latin America, the Caribbean and throughout Africa. From 2013-2016, Dr. Silva worked in Mozambique coordinating the implementation of the National Strategic Plan, which addressed four primary areas of HIV and AIDS: vertical transmission, mother and infant prevention and treatment, community intervention, and research. Dr. Silva has also served as the regional public health advisor on HIV and AIDS for the International Organization for Migration and WHO and as the director of international operations with Medicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World), where he oversaw almost 25 missions and their implementation of health projects. Dr. Silva received his medical degree from the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina, and his MSc in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, UK.
