Jacob Hughes’s 20 years of experience in global health across more than 20 countries includes nine years working in the field on national health system reforms and community- and facility-level primary health care projects to improve MNCH/FP/RH outcomes. He leads MSH’s development and application of systems-thinking approaches and supervises all technical work in UHC; leadership, governance, and capacity building; policy and advocacy; supply chains and lab systems; human resources for health; management systems; and learning and knowledge management. Mr. Hughes has served as senior advisor in USAID’s Office of Health Systems; advised donors and health ministries in Liberia, Uganda, Haiti, and South Sudan on health systems strengthening, health finance, program design and evaluation, and aid effectiveness; and headed regional program portfolios in Africa and Central Asia for a UK-based health NGO. He earned a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota.
