Principal Technical Advisor, Global Technical Lead
Ummuro Adano, a native of Northern Kenya, works for Management Sciences for Health as Principal Technical Advisor in the Center for Leadership and Management and Global Technical Lead, Human Resources for Health. For the last three years, he served as Deputy Director and Senior Technical Advisor, Capacity Building with the USAID-funded AIDSTAR Two Project, providing overall technical leadership in the development, implementation, and management oversight of organizational capacity building technical assistance efforts. Adano's technical expertise includes: human resource management systems, organizational capacity assessments, demand-driven capacity development approaches to institutional strengthening and organizational development, work climate improvements, HR leadership and governance, HR policy and systems development, pre-service/in-service coordination, curriculum development, adult learning methodologies, health policy, planning and financing. Mr. Adano earned a Masters degree in health policy, planning and financing from the London School of Economics (UK) and a Bachelors degree in education from the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK). He also received a merit diploma from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is fluent in Swahili and Oromo.
