Mozambique

We began partnering with the Government of Mozambique in 2002 to improve primary health care access and services by strengthening leadership and management capacity at the national, provincial, and district health system levels; achieve stronger and more efficient medicines regulatory processes; and prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Overview

To improve the quality of health services and address the high burden of malaria, HIV, and TB,  we work with partners in the pharmaceutical sector and in priority health programs to accelerate early case detection and case finding for TB, enhance airborne infection control efforts, integrate treatment of TB and HIV, and improve malaria diagnosis and treatment. Our programs have helped to improve the availability of pharmaceutical products at service delivery points and ensure that they are prescribed and dispensed appropriately, used correctly by patients, and monitored for safety and efficacy. Our work with Mozambique’s National Directorate of Pharmacy and National Regulatory Agency aims to achieve stronger and more efficient medicines regulatory processes and prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
