Improving Data Use for Decision-Making

Turning quality data into stronger health decisions and better outcomes

Strong health systems depend on reliable, timely data and people who can use it to make decisions. Yet fragmented information systems, uneven data quality, and limited analytic capacity often make it difficult to turn information into action. MSH works with governments and partners to strengthen health information systems, improve data quality, and build capacity for analytics, measurement, evaluation, research, and learning. We help leaders, managers, and health workers use digital tools and evidence to plan services, direct resources, track results, and respond to emerging needs—improving access to quality care and building more equitable, resilient health systems.

How MSH Improves Data Use for Decision-making

MSH helps countries build sustainable, interoperable data systems and strengthen the people, processes, and governance needed to generate evidence, learn, and transform information into action. We support partners to improve data quality, integrate digital platforms with national systems, monitor and evaluate performance and results, visualize trends, and embed routine data review, learning, and adaptation into planning, supervision, budgeting, and service improvement.

Stronger health information systems and digital tools

We help countries design, strengthen, and sustain health information systems and digital tools that bring together data from across the health system. By integrating tools such as DHIS2-based dashboards, electronic medical records, and logistics and community health information systems within national platforms, we make data easier to capture, analyze, share, and use for decision-making.

Monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning

MSH works with governments and partners to generate and use evidence to understand what works, for whom, why, and where change is needed. Through monitoring, evaluation, implementation research, and learning, teams measure results, test approaches, and adapt as they learn. Together, we turn findings into practical improvements in programs and health systems.
