Nanette Cocero

Dr. Nanette Cocero is a global health and biopharmaceutical executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare consulting, and academia. She previously served as Global President of Pfizer Vaccines, where she led the company’s more than $40 billion global vaccines business and oversaw the development, commercialization, and delivery of innovative vaccines worldwide. 

During her tenure, Dr. Cocero led the global rollout of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, overseeing the delivery of more than 2 billion doses to 152 countries and territories. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of science, strategy, commercialization, and access, helping expand the availability of medicines and vaccines across both developed and emerging markets. 

Prior to leading Pfizer Vaccines, Dr. Cocero held senior leadership positions across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and other emerging markets, where she focused on strengthening access to health care, advancing innovative delivery models, and building strategic partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations, and the private sector. Her work included collaborations to support vaccine financing, cold-chain distribution, telemedicine, and last-mile delivery systems in resource-constrained settings. 

Dr. Cocero currently serves on the boards of the International Vaccine Institute, Laminar Pharmaceuticals, and IDEA Public Schools, where she chairs the Academic Committee and serves on the Governance Committee. She previously served on the boards of HilleVax and PharmaJet and held leadership roles with the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), including Chair of the Vaccine CEO Steering Committee. 

A recognized advocate for global public health and health equity, Dr. Cocero is also committed to mentoring future leaders and supporting underserved communities through education and leadership development initiatives. 

Dr. Cocero holds a PhD in pharmacology and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Cornell University.
