Manpreet Singh

Dr. Manpreet Singh is a global health strategy and systems strengthening leader with more than 20 years of experience supporting governments, foundations, and international organizations across Africa and India. He currently serves as Deputy Director for Strategy, Planning, and Management in the Global Development Division at the Gates Foundation, where he leads strategy across a portfolio of teams including Emergency Response, Exemplars in Global Health, Global Health Agencies and Funds, Immunization, and Polio. 

At the Gates Foundation, Dr. Singh has led major organizational and regional strategy efforts, including the development of the Foundation’s Africa regional strategy and initiatives to strengthen country office impact and collaboration with governments and local partners. He also helped shape the Foundation’s response to recent Official Development Assistance (ODA) reductions, supporting investments to address immediate health system pressures while advancing longer-term planning with governments and partners. 

Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Dr. Singh was an Associate Partner and Global Deputy for Health and Nutrition at Dalberg Advisors, where he advised governments, multilateral organizations, foundations, and development partners on health systems strategy, organizational transformation, and implementation. His work included supporting the Government of Malawi in developing its Community Health Strategy, advising WHO AFRO on organizational restructuring to strengthen country responsiveness, and leading strategy development efforts for organizations including USAID India, Safe Surgery 2020, and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. 

Earlier in his career, Dr. Singh worked in clinical medicine in the United Kingdom. Dr. Singh has published research on early childhood development and the intersection of climate change and health. He holds a Master of Public Health in Global Health and Population from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Medical degree from the University of Cambridge
