Senior Principal Technical Advisor, Health System Strengthening
Tiwonge Mkandawire Badze is a Senior Principal Technical Advisor with 14 years of experience in health supply chain and pharmaceutical systems strengthening in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining MSH, Badze was the Director of the Supply Chain Team at VillageReach, where she managed work under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Supply Chain Integrators Investment. In this role, her team worked with governments and partners to build equitable, people-centered, resilient, and sustainable supply chains throughout Africa.
In addition, Badze oversaw USAID’s supply chain investments in South Africa for five years, initially as a Supply Chain specialist and later as the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Team Lead. In this role, she served as COR for the Global Health Supply Chain Technical Assistance – South Africa Task Order and co-chaired the HSS interagency working group. Badze also played a key role as USAID’s technical lead in various Department of Health and PEPFAR initiatives, including the establishment of a supply chain National Surveillance Centre and the expansion of the Centralized Chronic Medicine Dispensing and Distribution.
Badze hosted the “Produce to People” podcast, which brought together leaders in the public health supply chain space to unpack what it takes to build effective supply chains in Africa. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Science: Pharmacy Practice degree from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in South Africa.
