Abstract

This article documents a process used in Uganda to raise interest in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among students of health professions. The process led to the formation of a national team of student AMR champions and other advocacy efforts that can be embedded into the national system to contribute to the strategic objective 1 outlined in the WHO Global Action Plan on AMR.

This experience of engaging and collaborating with current students can potentially be replicated in other low- and middle-income countries. It also serves as an avenue to fostering the One Health approach by bringing together human, animal, and environmental sector students to carry out collaborative actions to combat AMR.
