Generating Environmental Health AMR Data
Generating Environmental Health AMR Data

This policy brief examines Nigeria’s progress in generating high-quality environmental AMR data to inform policy and regulatory action. Implemented under the Fleming Fund Country Grant Phase II, the work focuses on strengthening surveillance systems and WHONET software, and the establishment of the Integrated National Environmental Health Surveillance System (INEHSS). The brief emphasises the critical need for reliable environmental AMR data to inform evidence-based policies addressing pharmaceutical waste, agricultural runoff, and wastewater treatment gaps that drive antimicrobial resistance in Nigeria’s environment.
