Infection Control Assessment Tool: A Standardized Approach for Improving Hospital Infection Control Practices

The ICAT is designed to help identify, control, and prevent HAIs through an easily administered instrument that highlights areas of concern and suggests cost-efficient improvements within health facilities. It may be applied across the facility as a whole or for specific clinical and administrative areas. The ICAT offers a simple and practical approach for assessing the adequacy of existing infection prevention and control practices and gives specific recommendations for improving practices and monitoring their ongoing effectiveness.
