Infection prevention and control (IPC) implementation at referral hospitals (RHs) in Tanzania is still inadequate, regardless of ongoing IPC capacity-building initiatives. This continues to challenge the quality of healthcare service provision as poor IPC implementation fuels healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) problems. The study aimed to describe the implementation of IPC practices in 26 Regional RHs’ functional units in 2021.
