Project Lead, Tobacco Policy Action Fund for Africa

Emma Wanyonyi serves as the Project Lead for the Tobacco Policy Action Fund for Africa, leading MSH’s work to support governments in sub-Saharan Africa with implementation of their tobacco control policies. Wanyonyi has over 15 years’ experience advancing noncommunicable disease prevention and control in Africa, including tobacco and alcohol policy, mental health, road safety, and nutrition—collaborating with governments, civil society, academia, media, and other stakeholders.
Through her previous role with the World Health Organization, Wanyonyi provided technical support to African governments on regulation of new and emerging nicotine and tobacco products. Her expertise spans policy analysis, strategic planning, program management, multi- sectoral coordination, capacity strengthening and evidence-based advocacy. She holds a Master’s in public health degree from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
