Dr. John Paul Clark is an epidemiologist and health planner with over 30 years of experience in health systems strengthening, epidemic preparedness, and maternal and child health. Recently retired from the World Bank as a Lead Health Specialist and Advisor in the Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice, Clark’s previous roles include leading country operations at the Global Financing Facility during the COVID-19 pandemic, designing and overseeing the World Bank’s Regional Disease Surveillance Systems Enhancement (REDISSE) program, and shaping malaria control strategies through his work with USAID, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank. A globally respected thought leader, he has advanced technical innovation and cross-sectoral partnerships in communicable disease control, reproductive health, and pandemic response across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Clark holds advanced degrees from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Doctor of Science, Master of Health Science) and the London School of Economics (Master of Science, Economics), and has held academic appointments at Johns Hopkins, the University of Michigan, and the University of Maryland.
