Senior Principal Technical Advisor and Practice Lead for Strategic Information

Dr. Serge Xueref, a public health professional with multidisciplinary global health expertise, is the director of the MSH strategic information team, which is stewarding and strengthening data management for enhanced health impact.

Having started his career in hospitals, Dr. Xueref has since gained experience fighting communicable diseases on a global level and working in local health facilities and national governments in Africa. Previously, he supported MSH’s Gabon Health Reform Support Program and then was based in Uganda to assist local governments in strengthening their health information and M&E systems and in addressing key health challenges such as HIV and AIDS.

Prior to joining MSH, Dr. Xueref managed the evaluation unit of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria in Geneva and worked for the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization, and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program.

He has lived in Madagascar, Nigeria, Switzerland, Gabon, Uganda, and the US and is currently based in France. He holds a doctorate in medical microbiology and a PhD in public health from the University of Lyon, France.
