This paper examines Ethiopia’s efforts to institutionalize health technology assessment (HTA) for achieving universal health coverage through evidence-based decision-making. HTA can support efficient and equitable health priority-setting, write the paper’s authors, including MSH health financing expert Damian Walker, but its successful implementation requires involvement from key stakeholders like policymakers, healthcare providers, and patients, as well as greater investment in local capacity-building to generate reliable economic evidence for chronic diseases.
