Strengthening the Supply Chain System for the COVID-19 Response and Immunization Program

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the Government of Ukraine established a task force and began implementing a cold supply chain system to distribute vaccines. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the program expanded to support deliveries of routine vaccines, especially to war-affected areas. The USAID-funded SAFEMed Activity provided technical support to help establish these systems, strengthen immunization supply chain data and management capacity, and develop a legal framework to improve logistics. SAFEMed continues to support the Government of Ukraine in building a sustainable vaccine supply chain system and developing management processes for the national immunization program.
