Latanya Mapp Frett, President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, Joins MSH Board of Directors

Medford, MA—May 20, 2019—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) today announced the appointment of Latanya Mapp Frett, JD, MPP, to its Board of Directors. Ms. Frett is the President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, a nonprofit foundation focused on women’s human rights initiatives.

“We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished and passionate global health leader to our Board of Directors,” said Lawrence Fish, Board Chairman of MSH. “Ms. Frett’s vast international and US government experience will enrich and guide MSH’s work in the coming years.”

Before joining Global Fund for Women, Ms. Frett was Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global. She also worked with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for 10 years, including as Mission Director in Nigeria and Assistant Director in Mali. Her work at USAID also included posts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Iraq, and Asia and the Near East. Prior to USAID, Ms. Frett worked for eight years as a human rights officer for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Lesotho, Ethiopia, Pakistan, and New York.

Ms. Frett served as a delegate to the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 and continues to fight for the human rights of women. An attorney by training, she began her career at the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund in Washington, DC. She has received many honors and awards, including two Esteemed Meritorious Honor Awards from the US government and the highest honor in civil service, the Superior Honor Award, from the US State Department. Ms. Frett was one of 30 Foreign Service officers honored with the Colin Powell Fellowship by then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Ms. Frett currently serves on the Boards of Directors at Oxfam America and CHANGE and is an Adjunct Professor of Population and Family Health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. She is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow and author of four UN human rights reports and manuals.

Ms. Frett is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer and Alum of ICAP. She is a member of the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations. She holds a bachelor of arts in government and politics, a master’s in public policy, and a JD from the University of Maryland.
