Management Sciences for Health to Continue Hosting UHC Civil Society Mechanism

MSH will join forces with African advocacy group, extending its commitment to universal health coverage as part of a UHC2030-funded activity

Arlington, VA—May 25, 2020—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) announced today that it will continue to host—now jointly with WACI Health, a leading Africa regional advocacy organization—the UHC2030 Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM), a one-stop advocacy and accountability shop on universal health coverage (UHC), with a special focus this year on civil society’s critical role in shaping and monitoring the COVID-19 response.

MSH has served as the Secretariat for the CSEM since 2018. The new award extends MSH’s role for another year to continue supporting the efforts of more than 1,000 members of the CSEM from more than 850 organizations in 100+ countries who are leading UHC-focused advocacy.

The MSH and WACI Health partnership will bring these activities closer to the countries and regions where the work is taking place.

The CSEM is the civil society constituency of the International Health Partnership for UHC 2030 (UHC2030), the global movement to strengthen health systems for universal health coverage. UHC2030 provides a multistakeholder platform that promotes collaborative work at the global and country levels on health systems strengthening, advocating for increased political commitment to UHC, and facilitating accountability and knowledge sharing. The CSEM Advisory Group and members raise civil society voices in UHC2030 to ensure that UHC policies are inclusive and equitable and that systematic attention is given to the most marginalized and vulnerable populations so that no one is left behind on the road to achieving UHC.
