Management Sciences for Health Welcomes David Humphries as Chief Communications Officer

Medford, MA—May 15, 2018—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) announced today the appointment of David Humphries as its new Chief Communications Officer.

David joins MSH as the newest member of the Senior Leadership team. Since 2000, David has led strategic communications and government relations teams, and has led communications strategies in countries across Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia in the nonprofit, government and private sector. He will join MSH on May 29.

Prior to MSH, David worked at Global Communities, an international NGO focused on community-based development and humanitarian assistance, where he most recently served as Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs. In this role, David successfully launched the organization’s media and Congressional relations functions and, in 2012, developed and led the rebranding strategy from CHF International to Global Communities. He worked on topics as diverse as the humanitarian responses to the Ebola crisis and Syria conflict, to decentralization efforts in Ukraine, and preventing violent extremism in Kenya.

David said: “While working on the Ebola crisis, I became increasingly aware of the extraordinary importance of building strong health systems globally. During that time I learned about Management Sciences for Health’s leadership role in this work, from the grassroots to the government-level, in dozens of countries around the world. I’m excited to join the team at MSH and to contribute toward such a vital global mission.”

David’s previous roles include leading the press office of the National Archives of the United Kingdom and five years focusing on education communications. Originally from Scotland, David has lived and worked in the USA, Japan and the UK and has an MA and an MPhil in literature from the University of Cambridge. David is a prize-winning playwright and a 2013 recipient of PR Week’s 40 Under 40 award.
