Management Sciences for Health’s Board of Directors Appoints John Isaacson as Chair

Medford, MA—December 16, 2021—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is pleased to welcome John Isaacson as Chair of its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2021.

Isaacson brings many decades of mission-based service to civic organizations. He launched his career in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, where he served three governors and five Secretaries of Health and Human Services, recruiting appointed officials, and served himself in appointments in child welfare and juvenile justice. In 1982, Isaacson founded Isaacson Miller, an executive search firm recruiting outstanding leaders to strengthen civic organizations, including health care institutions and academic medical centers.

“John assumes the role of Chair at an exciting time in MSH’s history, as we begin celebrating our 50th anniversary by looking at the next 50 years of global health. As we focus our energies on innovations in technical excellence and localization, John’s professional experience and business acumen will help continue to propel MSH into the future,” said Marian W. Wentworth. “I am thrilled to welcome John as Chair of our Board of Directors, and look forward to partnering with him as we continue to strengthen locally-led health systems that take full advantage of the wealth of ingenuity in the countries where we work.”

Isaacson previously served two terms on the MSH Board from 2011 to 2018, and rejoined the Board in 2019.

Isaacson said, “I am honored to accept the role of Chair during this time of extraordinary challenge in global health, with the pandemic coronavirus demonstrating the vital importance of resilient health systems. MSH has a tremendous heritage and noble mission, and over the last decade, I have watched the organization become stronger, more innovative and more agile, values it has demonstrated in its pandemic response. I look forward to partnering with the MSH staff, leadership and Board as we move forward together into the next 50 years.”

Isaacson is preceded by Lawrence K. Fish, who has served as MSH Board Chair since 2015 and will continue to serve as a Board Director for the duration of 2021.

Isaacson added: “I join together with the whole of MSH to express my gratitude to Larry Fish for his outstanding commitment to the organization, his strong leadership and his great support during his tenure as Chair.”
