Chief of Party, USAID Supply Chain Strengthening Activity, Ethiopia

Edmealem Ejigu is a seasoned health supply chain leader with 26 years of experience in Ethiopia’s public health sector, including 19 years advising and leading USAID-funded projects. He has managed large-scale pharmaceutical programs, overseeing budgets of up to $30 million/year and teams of 120 staff. His expertise lies in fostering collaborations with public institutions, NGOs, development partners, and the private sector.

Since January 2025, he has served as Chief of Party for the USAID Supply Chain Strengthening Activity, implemented by Management Sciences for Health and partners. Previously, he held leadership roles at Chemonics International as Country and Deputy Country Director of GHSC-PSM, co-designing transformative initiatives in quality management systems, digital regulatory solutions, results-based supportive supervision, last-mile delivery, and supply chain maturity. His ability to mobilize resources for national distribution campaigns and address challenges like COVID-19 showcases his strategic vision.

Edmealem has contributed to key policies, guidelines, and publications. A dedicated husband and father of four, he holds a Pharmacy degree from Addis Ababa University and an MBA from Indira Gandhi National Open University. Fluent in English and Amharic, he continues to drive innovation in Ethiopia’s health supply chain sector.
