Strengthening Community TB Prevention Through TB Survivor Clubs in Ethiopia: Lessons from the Eliminate TB Project
Former TB patients can play a vital role in advancing prevention, case finding, and treatment adherence in their communities. Through the Eliminate TB Project, MSH partnered with local organizations to establish 84 TB Survivor Clubs across Ethiopia, engaging more than 600 volunteers in community-based TB activities. Club members referred over 126,000 people for TB screening, supported contact tracing, promoted preventive treatment, and helped patients remain on treatment. This technical brief demonstrates how locally led, community-based approaches can extend the reach of TB services, strengthen country ownership, and support sustainable improvements in TB outcomes.
