Management Sciences for Health Partners with Kenyan Organization to Reduce TB
Arlington, VA—September 5, 2024—Management Sciences for Health (MSH) today announced a new partnership with Centre for Health Solutions—Kenya (CHS) and USAID to fight tuberculosis (TB) in Kenya. CHS, the prime recipient, is the lead on this project, with MSH in a sub-recipient role.
The five-year project, known as USAID Tamatisha TB, will work with national and county governments to increase detection, enhance treatment success, strengthen prevention measures (particularly among high-risk populations), and increase capacity and sustainability for TB control. This project will build on existing efforts that have set a firm foundation for ending TB. MSH’s involvement will focus on strengthening pharmaceutical and laboratory systems, improving quality of care, and strengthening capacity and sustainability for TB control through domestic resource mobilization and conducting an organizational capacity assessment.
The combined efforts of CHS and project partners will lead to significant reductions in both the incidence and mortality rates of TB and accelerate progress toward Kenya’s ambitious End TB targets, as communicated by the project’s name—“Tamatisha” is a Kiswahili word meaning “Stop or End.”
“MSH’s partnership with CHS, a local not-for-profit organization, further demonstrates our commitment to localization and our readiness to champion locally led development,” said Wawira Munyi, MSH’s Senior Manager for the project.
