    Daniel H. Kress

    Vice President for Global Health Systems Innovation

    Daniel H. Kress, PhD, is the Vice President for Global Health Systems Innovation at MSH, which is the team responsible for the organization’s global and strategic technical expertise. A health economist by background, Kress has three decades of experience in health systems, health reform, and evaluation. His experience includes working in more than 30 countries.

    Before coming to MSH, Kress was the Senior Director of Global Health Financing and Systems at RTI International, where he helped strengthen and expand RTI’s technical expertise in global health financing and systems. Prior to that, Kress spent 13 years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he held many leadership roles, including as Deputy Director of Integrated Delivery, Chief Economist, and Deputy Director of Policy Analysis and Financing, and roles in global health vaccine delivery and health economics and financing. Before his tenure at the Gates Foundation, Kress held senior health economist roles with the World Bank, Abt Associates, and the Futures Group International (now Palladium).

    Kress holds a PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in economics and French from the University of Montana, as well as a Certificat d’Etudes Approfondies from the Université d’Aix-Marseille III. He is fluent in French and has been widely published in the areas of primary health care and health systems in peer-reviewed publications.
