Strengthening the Supply Chain to Ensure Access to Life-Saving HIV and AIDS Services

Ukraine has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with approximately 240,000 Ukrainians living with HIV. To combat this epidemic, the USAID SAFEMed Activity, with funding from PEPFAR, has provided crucial strategic support to ensure patients can access the preventative care and medical treatment they need, despite many wartime challenges. Working closely with government agencies, such as Ukraine’s Center for Public Health and the Medical Procurement of Ukraine, SAFEMed helped improve procurement and distribution processes and supply chain management of life-saving health commodities to prevent and treat HIV.
