Management Sciences for Health Tapped to Strengthen Supply Chain Management in Uganda

Arlington, VA–May 24, 2022–Management Sciences for Health (MSH) announced today that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has awarded it a contract to support the Uganda Ministry of Health in building and strengthening the foundations for well-integrated, interoperable digital systems to ensure end-to-end visibility across the supply chain for medicines and other health products.

Under the one-year contract, MSH will expand ongoing efforts to digitize the health supply chain by establishing—and training staff on the use of—digital infrastructure and electronic logistics management information systems (eLMIS) from storage rooms to dispensing points at health centers. MSH will also strengthen leadership, management, and governance for IT and digital systems at the district level to ensure that the eLMIS is used effectively and that IT equipment is maintained over time.

The new contract will complement MSH’s work in Uganda under the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Strengthening Supply Chain Systems activity, which MSH leads.

“We’re thrilled to support the Global Fund’s and the Government of Uganda’s efforts to strengthen the country’s health supply chain at a time when this work has proven to be so essential,” said MSH President and CEO Marian W. Wentworth. “Our intention is to replicate this technical assistance model in other countries where the Global Fund and USAID can join forces to achieve greater health impact.”
