Making the Economic Case for Malaria Investment in Africa

Making the Economic Case for Malaria Investment in Africa

Overview

Despite decades of progress, malaria continues to threaten lives and livelihoods across Africa. Building on a growing recognition that malaria is not just a health issue, this project aims to generate compelling economic evidence that links malaria burden with lost productivity, stunted growth, and broader societal impacts. The findings will support ALMA and national malaria programs in advocating for increased domestic and international investment.

MSH will lead research and strategic communications efforts to support:

  • Country-specific investment case development
  • Stakeholder engagement across ministries of health, finance, and planning
  • Tailored policy briefs and high-level messaging
  • Media and partner engagement to amplify findings
