Impact by Region: How ACCESS Improved Health Outcomes and Behaviors across Madagascar

From 2018-2025, the USAID Accessible Continuum of Care and Essential Services Sustained (ACCESS) program partnered with communities in 14 regions of Madagascar to improve maternal and child health, malaria prevention and treatment, reproductive health and family planning, nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene services, reaching more than 16 million people across the country. By strengthening the capacity of community health volunteers, health centers, and district hospitals to provide high-quality care and working together with communities to adopt healthy behaviors, ACCESS implemented sustainable interventions that can be carried on by the Malagasy people.

These region-specific booklets showcase how ACCESS strengthened local health systems to deliver quality care, implemented culturally relevant interventions, and empowered communities through education and engagement, leading to measurable improvements in health outcomes.
