A notable highlight from this year’s report is the “How Well I See You Peru” Program, designed to address presbyopia, a near vision problem affecting thousands of Peruvians over the age of 40. The World Health Organization’s 2020 report indicates that globally, at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment or blindness, with up to 1 billion of these cases being avoidable or untreated. Presbyopia accounts for 86% of these impairments. In 2023, MSH–Peru forged a partnership with the National Solidarity Assistance Program, PENSIÓN 65, to identify those suffering from this condition and distribute tens of thousands of reading glasses.
