Safe, Affordable, and Effective Medicines for Ukrainians (SAFEMed) Activity – June 2026 Monthly Newsletter and Success Story

We invite you to read the June 2026 Newsletter of the Safe, Affordable, and Effective Medicines for Ukrainians (SAFEMed) Activity, funded by the U.S. Government. We are also pleased to share a new SAFEMed success story, Building Trust in Public Health: How SAFEMed Helped Reach Millions of Ukrainians with Accurate Health Information.
The story highlights how SAFEMed supported the Center for Public Health of Ukraine in developing its first communications strategy and implementing a nationwide awareness campaign featuring five personal stories about HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis C. Through healthcare facilities, the Kyiv Metro, and Intercity trains, the campaign brought accurate public health information to millions of Ukrainians.
In this issue, you’ll find stories on:
- The establishment of the Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Agency, marking a major milestone in strengthening Ukraine’s pharmaceutical regulatory system.
- Hospital-Based Health Technology Assessment (HB-HTA) training launched at the University Hospital of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.
- Regional monitoring of Ukraine’s updated National Immunization Schedule, supporting evidence-based planning and stronger immunization services.
- Good Distribution Practice (GDP) training for Medical Procurement of Ukraine, strengthening institutional capacity to maintain international standards for medicine distribution.
Please find the English and Ukrainian versions of the newsletter attached, along with the success story.
