MSH at the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC) 2023
The International Maternal Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC) 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa, brought together more than 1,500 advocates, scientists, researchers, NGOs, policy makers, and practitioners to collaborate and drive urgent action for the health of mothers and newborns by exchanging the most effective tools, sharing best practices and evidence, fostering strong connections, and investing in proven interventions.
Throughout the conference, the MSH delegation shared strategies and lessons learned from improving maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) in low- and middle-income countries, including institutionalizing the use of chlorhexidine in newborn care, increasing community-level uptake of intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy for malaria, and adapting supply chains to better deliver maternal and newborn commodities. MSH’s work partnering with midwives to provide high-quality primary health care for mothers and newborns in their communities, including through group-based antenatal and post-natal care, was featured during the plenary on Building Strong Systems to Deliver Quality Maternal and Newborn Health Services on May 10th.
We were also pleased to so-organized by MSH: “All Hands on Deck – The Role of ALL Stakeholders in Revitalizing National Agendas to Save Maternal and Newborn Lives,” on Wednesday, May 10th.
